PLC-5 Migrations

Autopro Automation Consultants Ltd. offers efficient services for migrating legacy programmable logic controller (PLC) systems while minimizing downtime and ensuring plant integrity.

The Rockwell (formerly Allen-Bradley) PLC-5 family of products was first introduced in 1988. While the PLC-5 was quickly adopted by many facilities in Alberta, Rockwell has recently phased it out. Although PLC-5 systems have proven to be very reliable, replacement parts and software are becoming increasingly more expensive and difficult to find. As a result, plants running PLC-5 systems are at risk for unplanned downtime and significant expense for critical parts, which can have significant impact on an organization’s bottom line.

Autopro’s turnkey approach offers low-risk, cost-effective PLC-5 migration. We use Rockwell’s recommended set of tools to seamlessly convert from PLC-5 to the latest ControlLogix 5000 series platform with a minimal amount of re-wiring and re-programming. This approach minimizes risk and cost by reusing field wiring and minimizes schedule requirements due to a decreased requirement for commissioning.

Autopro Automation Consultants is a Rockwell Automation Recognized System Integrator.
